The Expandability and Coping admin screens contain information about how Wealth Groups respond to hazards and events through coping strategies and expandability.
Expandability is the percentage of the quantity sold, income, or expenditure in the reference year of a Livelihood Strategy in a response scenario. It is stored on the BSS 'Exp factors' worksheet.
Coping is the capacity of households to diversify and expand access to various sources of food and income, and thus to cope with a specified hazard. It is captured in the 'Coping' Sheet of the BSS whenever available. Notably the Coping sheet is not found in most BSSs. In addition, at times in the literature, Coping seems used synonymously to Expandability. However, it seems suitable to model the data in 'Coping' sheet; see Practitioners' guide page 137.
Coping and expandability are better analyzed during the outcome analysis stage, by taking into account the exact hazard/shock. These items are not currently ingested from the BSSs but are a part of the model.
